As the weather cools off Canadians across the country gear up for another season of NHL hockey. NHL betting odds are open on plenty of markets including the Stanley Cup winner as well as odds to make playoffs and NHL props on awards. The competitive nature of the NHL means every season there are multiple teams in the mix for the playoffs and Stanley Cup.
With the NHL playoffs coming to an end, the attention of most hockey fans turns to the upcoming NHL Draft. This year’s draft is headlined by two prospects, Jack Hughes and Kaapo Kakko. For most of the year, Hughes was the consensus top pick in the draft. However, Kakko is making things interesting the last few weeks, impressing enough that he could steal the top spot on at this year’s NHL draft.

For the first time since the present NHL playoff format was put in place in 2014, the top seeds in each Conference have been eliminated in the first round, and in relatively easy fashion. As the first round nears conclusion, the race for the Stanley Cup is now wide open, and teams that were big underdogs two weeks ago now suddenly have real shot at the championship.

Only two weeks remain before the start of the 2019 NHL playoffs. A few spots are a lock but many teams are still jockeying for playoff positioning, and some are in a dogfight for a Wild Card spot.
