UFC 244 Predictions

Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz
While this fight is a rare headliner at a UFC pay-per-view, not for a championship belt, it is still an explosive fight with plenty of intrigue. Nate Diaz challenged Masvidal back in August, for the Baddest Motherf*cker in the Game belt.
To hype, the event, the winner of the fight will win the aforementioned belt. But, which fighter will win the fight.
Masvidal opens as the favourite over Diaz. Masvidal is the number three ranked welterweight compared to Diaz, who sits at six.
Diaz and Masvidal bring different styles into the Octagon. Masvidal is a very well-rounded fighter, relying on a mixture of fighting skills and superb defence to outlast his opponents. His skills, especially at defending takedowns, is one factor to key in on this fight.
Diaz wins most of his bouts by submission. The problem for Diaz is submitting Masvidal is no easy feat. Masvidal has not lost by submission since May 2009. His ability to stay on his feet and keep fighters like Diaz at bay with his kickboxing abilities has helped remain relevant in the MMA world for over a decade.
While Diaz can land and win through his striking ability, he is not as consistent or reliable when he is fighting standing up. Masvidal can take strikes and rarely is hit by anything strong enough to knock him out.
Overall, this fight should entertain, with the potential of going five rounds. To make the fight even more entertaining, take Masvidal on the moneyline to win at UFC 244.
Pick: Jorge Masvidal (-170) to Win the Fight
Kelvin Gastelum vs. Darren Till
After missing weight twice in the last two years, Darren Till makes a move from welterweight to middleweight, making his debut against fourth-ranked Kelvin Gastelum.
Despite fighting in a lower weight division for much of his career, Till has the advantage in height, length and reach over Gastelum.
His size should help him adapt to his new weight class and help him quickly develop the power to knock out bigger fighters like Gastelum.
While it is risky to pick Till to win, as Gastelum at 16-3 is well-regarded in the class, Till’s abilities in the octagon match up well against Gastelum.
Till is a tough takedown and a smart striker. His size should help him defender against Gastelum’s advances, while simultaneously giving him the chance to counter and land some significant strikes.
Take Till, who should be the underdog, to win in his middleweight debut.
Pick: Darren Till to win at UFC 244
Derrick Lewis vs. Blagoy Ivanov
The other fight on the main card garnering plenty of attention is a heavyweight clash between Derrick Lewis and Blagoy Ivanov. While Lewis has struggled a bit lately, he should rebound against Blagoy Ivanov.
Lewis is only two fights removed from looking like one of the best fighters in the heavyweight class. He is strong and fast, but occasionally gets a little tangled up.
However, one of his last loss came against Daniel Cormier. Lewis fought well against Cormier, who is superior to Ivanov. If Lewis fights as well as he did, even in that loss, or looks as great as he did in his win at UFC 229, he should not have too much problem getting back into the win column against Ivanov.
Pick: Derrick Lewis to Win at UFC 244
