Two legends of golf square off on November 23, as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, face off in Las Vegas in one of the most anticipated golfing events of all-time. The uniqueness of this event, which is more akin to a boxing match, is sure to draw in plenty of viewers and action. Woods opens as the favourite over Phil, as his play over the last few months of most clamouring that Tiger is officially back.

Phil vs. Tigers – The Facts

  • Woods and Tiger matched up for 37 rounds on the PGA Tour
  • Woods won 18, Mickelson won 15, and they tied the other four rounds
  • Woods won eight tournaments when matched with Phil
  • Mickelson won three tournaments when paired with Tiger
  • Woods has 14 Majors in his career
  • Mickelson has five Majors (second to Tiger amongst active golfers)

Woods vs. Mickelson – Who Will Win

The top betting option on this match is which golfer will win outright. After some stellar showings over the last few months, including his first PGA Tour win in over five years and a second place finish at the PGA Championship, Woods enters the match as the favourite at -150 on golf betting sites.

Mickelson’s game has been off the last few months. After winning WGC-Mexico Championship in early March, Mickelson had only one top-ten finish in his next 16 tournaments and did not even make the cut at the PGA Championship (where Woods finished second). Also, like Woods, Mickelson had not won a PGA tournament since 2013.

The tournament takes place at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas. Under the course’s original design, Tiger Woods owned the course record with a scintillating 60. The course has gone under some changes since Woods set that record, but it is still worth mentioning Woods’ previous accomplishes at the course.

While Phil and Tiger have a fairly balanced record against each other in their careers, it is hard to argue against Tiger Woods’ improvements the last few months and his previous accomplishes at the course make him the man to bet will win on November 24.

Pick: Tiger Woods to Win Outright (-150)

Best Prop Bet: Shirt Colour – Tiger Woods

One of the prop bets sure to draw plenty of attention is the colour of shirt Tiger Woods will wear. The favourite is any other colour but red, black and white at +150. Of course, anyone who has followed Tiger over his 20+ year career knows he will dawn the red polo.  At +300, Tiger wearing red is the best prop bet you can place on this event.

Bonus Pick: Will Tiger Win Another Major in 2019 or 2020

While not directly related to the event, a prop bet on whether Tiger Woods will win another major is available. Woods’ play the last few months has many believing he has his swagger back. At 42, Woods is still six years younger than the oldest Major winner ever (Julius Boros  – 1968 PGA Championship). Boros beat Arnold Palmer (who was 39 at the time) and still one of the best golfers in the world.

Taking Woods to win a Major in either 2019 or 2020, gives him eight opportunities and at +150, it is a good bet. Everyone wants to see it, the PGA knows it is good for business and Woods is finally looking like he can after years of uncertainty.

Pick: Tiger Woods to Win Another Major in 2019 or 2020 (+150)
