Senators at Penguins NHL Playoff Betting Odds

Senators at Penguins NHL Playoff Betting Odds
Even the most diehard Ottawa Senators fan knows that their team is outmatched, in most senses of the word. But this is been a fun ride. They are now facing an elimination game, at home. Do they have any magic left? Or is Cinderella about to turn into a pumpkin?

Ottawa Senators vs Pittsburgh Penguins Game 6

Even the Senators have admitted that the Penguins are a better team. There simply trying to be the better team, one night at a time. You don’t have to be the better team, you just have to play better four games out of seven. Sadly, Pittsburgh has asserted its dominance and have looked like the much better team over the last two games. As soon as we all started praising Ottawa and thinking maybe they don’t play boring hockey, they have since been outscored 9-3 over the last two losses, including a tough loss at home, and a shut out ask kicking in the last game. They no longer look like a team of destiny.

The Penguins, on the other hand, are feeling really good. They did what they had to do, and won consecutive games to take control of this series. They’ve looked like champions over the last couple of games, and seem poised to meet up with Nashville to play for Lord Stanley. They basically have two chances to close out the Ottawa Senators. One tonight in game six in Ottawa, and on their home ice in game seven. I have a really really hard time imagining Ottawa winning two straight games against this Pittsburgh Penguins teams. Of course, it’s not impossible.

They are certainly going to get the benefit of the home ice tonight. The Ottawa crowd at the Canadian Tire Centre is going to be going positively ham. Teams that win these elimination games are the ones that parlay all of this desperation and emotion into a win. Through all this adrenaline, they’re going to have to find some discipline. They’re going to have to get back to The type of defence that held the highest scoring team in the National Hockey League to three goals in the first three games of the series. That seems like a distant memory now.

SENATORS (+1.5) PLAY NOW

I like Ottawa’s chances tonight. I’m not saying they will win the series. In fact, I’m saying they won’t win the series. Pittsburgh is going to win this in seven games, like I said from the start. And tonight belongs to Ottawa. But it’s not going to be a blowout. Pittsburgh has the experience of defending Stanley Cup champions, they clearly knows how to close out teams. They’re going to show up tonight. But, Ottawa also has the defense, discipline, and goaltender to win the game in force a decisive game seven. It’s going to be tough, physical, and hard-hitting. But tonight Ottawa will prevail on their home ice.
