NFL Week 1 Odds

NFL Week 1 Odds
Finally! After months of waiting, the National Football League regular season is here starting on September 7, at 8:30 PM EST. Sixteen games, including four in prime time, fill a busy week one of NFL football. There are many games and options to consider, but looking through the odds, four wagers stick out to start the season. Previewing week one of the NFL regular season and the best bets to make to start the year off right.

NFL Week 1 Schedule

The NFL regular season is back, with exciting sixteen games. Week one starts in New England on Thursday, September 7 at 8:30 PM EST. After Thursday, football fans need to wait until Sunday. On Sunday, 13 games are scheduled on Sunday starting at 1:00 PM and going all through the day. Nine games fill the 1:00 PM time slot, with three more games starting between 4:05 PM and 4:25 PM. The last game on Sunday starts at 8:30 PM EST.

As is the tradition on week one of the NFL, not one but two Monday night games are scheduled. The first game starts at 7:10 EST PM, while the second begins 10:20 PM EST. The 10:20 PM start is the latest any game will start this season, barring some type of extended delay. There are some very intriguing games to start the year. Three games in week one feature two teams that made the playoffs last season. Seven games will be between divisional rivals.

Every week of the National Football League regular season, there are many games to watch, wager on and enjoy, but when it comes to just wagering week one can be particularly challenging. Every team is starting fresh and looking to get a win in week one. Looking through every game and the many betting options for the week, four bets from four different games. The bets include a road underdog covering the spread, a road favourite winning by a field goal or more, a home favourite, which opened as an underdog, taking care of business in front of their fans and to close out the week an over bet on one of the two Monday night games.

National Football League Picks Week 1

The Jacksonville Jaguars may have burned a lot of people in the past, but one thing they have a history of is playing close games against the Houston Texans. Six of the last nine meetings between the two teams have been decided by seven points or less, including a 21-20 and 24-21 games last season – both victories by the Houston Texans. Neither team is coming into the 2017 season with great quarterbacks and will be facing tough defences to start the year. Look for a close game, with the Jaguars likely losing, but by less than a touchdown.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of the best dark horse teams in the NFL this season and an exciting road favourite in week one. The Miami Dolphins are still transitioning their new quarterback Jay Cutler, back into regular season and form, meaning the team may not be at their best to start the year. Even though the Bucs are on the road, Miami is the closest possible opponent for Tampa Bay, and they should see some fan make the trip, as this will be the first time in eight years the Bucs play in Miami. Pick the Buccaneers to win in week one.

Taking the Los Angeles Rams is always a calculated risk, but as a slight favourite, after opening as the underdog at home against a team likely starting their backup quarterback, taking the Rams is worth the risk. If you remove the Indianapolis Colts and Rams’ starting quarterback from the equation, the Rams are the better team. The Rams may be without the services of their best defensive player, Aaron Donald, to start the season, which does hurt. Watch this line and follow the news over the upcoming week to see if anything changes, otherwise take the Rams at -3.0.

As the second to last game of week one, taking place on Monday night at 7:10 PM EST, it is time to switch from spreads to over/under bets. The Minnesota Vikings were one of the best defensive teams in the NFL last season, but have a tough test in week one. Even though the New Orleans Saints are the road team, Drew Brees and the offence will benefit from playing in a dome where they are typically a much better team, especially on offence. Add in Adrian Peterson returning to Minnesota with a chip on his shoulder makes this one of the more exciting games of week one. Take the over and enjoy some offence to end the first week of the NFL season.

There is still time left to get in some futures bets before the season gets going on September 7, 2017. Entering the 2017 National Football League season, there are some popular lines/odds many bettors are taking advantage of

Two of the more popular regular season win total bets are on the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills. The Jets enter 2017 as arguably the worst team in the NFL. Their win over/under total is currently set at 4.5. Only the craziest of Jets fans are taking the over on this line. The Bills are in the midst of a complete rebuild, trading away some of their best players for draft picks. At a win total of 6.5, taking the under is the smart move.

There are a few other smart futures to bet, including taking the New York Giants to win the NFC East and having the Los Angeles Chargers as a playoff team. NFL Futures bets are available throughout the year, but as the season progresses lines change and some options may entirely disappear. The Toronto Maple Leafs will look to extend their home winning streak to eight games on Thursday against the New York Islanders. The streak began back on January 31, when the Leafs blew out the Islanders 5-0. The Islanders have one of the best offences in the NHL but have struggled to stop teams from scoring. The Leafs’ young core should generate enough offence to win, what could top into a high-scoring event on Thursday night at 7:00 PM EST.
