2019 Motorcycle Grand Prix of the Americas Betting Preview

2019 Motorcycle Grand Prix of the Americas Betting Preview
The 2019 MotoGP season continues on April 14 with a stop in Austin, Texas for the seventh running of the Motorcycle Grand Prix of the Americas.

Marquez won the first six years of the tournament and bettors should feel confident the Spaniard will win again when he takes the circuit on Sunday afternoon.

MotoGP Stats for the 2019 Grand Prix of the Americas

  • Marc Marquez is the only rider to win the event

  • Marquez owns the circuit record at 2’03.75

  • Honda has nine total wins at the event (six in the MotoGP and three in the Moto3 race)

  • Team Honda (89) leads all manufacturers this season in points, followed by Team Ducati (74) and Team Suzuki (32)

  • Grand Prix of America is 110.3km over 20 laps

Can Marquez Make it Seven Straight Wins at the Grand Prix of the Americas?

Since the tournament joined the MotoGP circuit in 2013, Marc Marquez has won the race every year. The six wins represent 13.3% of all of Marquez career victories (at the 350cc level).  He knows the circuit very well after six races and has mastered the elevated straight away and multiple hairpin turns.

Marquez is coming off his first victory of the year (winning at the Argentina Grand Prix on March 31). Marquez has now won the Argentina Grand Prix three times in his career. Marquez followed his first two victories at the Argentina Grand Prix with wins at the next race (winning the Spanish Grand Prix in 2014 and the Grand Prix of the Americas in 2016). Overall Marquez is worth a wager he will win the event again in 2019.

Pick: Marc Marquez (-357) to win the 2019 Grand Prix of the Americas

Best Underdog Pick

For bettors looking for better MotoGP 2019 odds on a driver (outside of Marc Marquez), the best bet to make is on Valentino Rossi. After a poor showing at the end of the 2018 season, Rossi had placed fifth and second in the first two races of this year. Rossi had finished in the top four at the Motorcycle Grand Prix of the Americas three of the last four seasons. In 2017, Rossi second to Marquez, finishing 3.069 seconds behind. He is the best driver to challenge Marquez for victory at this year’s race.

Pick: Valentino Rossi (+700) to win the 2019 Grand Prix of the Americas

MotoGP Championship Futures Update

At the start of the MotoGP season, we predicted Marc Marquez should win his sixth title in seven years. After a second place at Qatar and a win in Argentina, MotoGP championship odds on Marquez to win outright have moved from -175 to -500.  Odds on Marquez will remain open for a while. However, as the 26-year-old wins more events, his odds of winning the tour championship will continue to offer a lower payout. Consider jumping on his odds now before it is too late.

Pick: Marc Marquez to win the 2019 MotoGP Championship (-500)
