Grey Cup Picks 2019
The 2019 CFL season concludes this Sunday when the Hamilton Tiger-Cats take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for the 107th Grey Cup. The two teams are the only active CFL franchises not to win a Grey Cup this century, meaning both fanbases and organizations are hungry for a title. Hamilton opens as the favourite over Winnipeg, although the last four Grey Cups have seen the underdog win outright.
Grey Cup odds are open for the big game on November 24, 2019. The game kickoffs in Calgary at 6:00 PM EST with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats opening as the favourites on Grey Cup betting odds over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Grey Cup Odds
- Hamilton Tiger-Cats +133
- Winnipeg Blue Bombers -160
107th Grey Cup Winner Prediction
With Hamilton and Winnipeg both looking to end decades of Grey Cup disappointments, bettors and fans should expect each team to leave it all on the field.
However, for Winnipeg, that may not be nearly enough to trump Hamilton, who decimated the Canadian Football League on route to a 15-3 and becoming Grey Cup odds 2019 favourites.
Hamilton was the best team in the CFL throughout the regular season and looked exactly the part in their 26-16 dismantling of Edmonton in the East Finals. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have deadly speed in their wide receiving core, with Brandon Banks making a case for the CFL MOP award.
Joining Banks on the other side of the field is Bralon Addison. The two combined for nearly 2800 yards and 20 touchdowns, despite each player missing a pair of games.
While Hamilton can air the ball out on any given play, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers can slow the clock with their running abilities. Winnipeg led all teams in rushing this season, averaging 146.3 yards per game. However, Winnipeg will need to throw the ball more to score against the Tiger-Cats.
Hamilton ranked third in rushing yards allowed and limited Winnipeg to 80.5 rushing yards per game this year in two Hamilton victories.
Hamilton is also 4-1 against Winnipeg in their last five meetings. In those five games, Winnipeg has once topped 100 yards on the ground and once scored more than 17 points. Turnovers have killed Winnipeg in games against Hamilton. They have turned the ball over 11 times in their last five meetings, including six times in a game this season.
Winnipeg needs to lean on their defence to keep them in this game. Winnipeg owns the CFL’s best rushing defence and tied for the most takeaways per game.
However, they have struggled against the pass this season. Winnipeg allows 12.14 yards per passing play, behind only Ottawa for most in the league. Hamilton sliced and diced teams in the passing game this season, ending the year as the only team averaging more than 300 yards passing per game.
Overall, Hamilton is the better team in this game. Winnipeg will struggle to stop Hamilton’s potent passing attack and may struggle to match their scoring if they once again cannot get their run game going.
While 30 years without a Grey Cup should see Winnipeg going out there and putting up a fight, it is not enough to beat the more talented Tiger-Cats.
Pick: Hamilton Tiger-Cats (-160) to Win the 107th Grey Cup

Colour of Gatorade
- Clear/Water +175
- Lime/Green/Yellow +225
- Orange +300
- Blue +400
- Red +500
- Purple +700
Since the Hamilton Tiger-Cats are the bet to win, then it makes sense to go with the colour of Gatorade closest to their jersey colour. That means Yellow colour grouping tops orange in the colours to bet. Orange is not a bad option as it is the most likely secondary colour for both teams to choose as their Gatorade flavour.
However, orange Gatorade is worse than blue and yellow, meaning the players should push for their team to fill the coolers with a better flavour.
Pick: Lime/Green/Yellow Gatorade (+225)
National Anthem Length
- Over 70.5 seconds -120
- Under 70.5 second -120
The CFL has yet to announce who the singer of the Canadian National Anthem at the 107th Grey Cup. They have only stated it is a young vocalist. Looking at previous data on the National Anthem at the Grey Cup and the Super Bowl show some trends.
Typically, female vocalists perform a more extended rendition of the National Anthem. Also, singers who use an instrument finish with a more extended version. Lastly, age rarely plays a factor in length, although a very young singer may pace themselves quicker on such a large stage.
The line on the anthem is set lower than usual. That may suggest Vegas, and online sportsbooks believe the singer will be exceedingly young and perform at a quicker pace than a veteran vocalist.
However, even if the singer is young, 70 seconds is quite short and accounts for little time for the notes held and any additional instrumentals.
Pick: Over 70.5 Seconds (-120)
