Best Underdog Bets For the NFL Regular Season 2017

Best Underdog Bets For the NFL Regular Season 2017
With the NFL preseason in full swing, now is the time to start looking into futures picks for the 2017 NFL season. There are many options available, but to get the biggest payouts, betting on the right underdog is the way to go. Here are the best underdog picks for the 2017 NFL regular season.

Underdog Picks for the 2017 NFL Season

Most professional sports go through some form of parity. While some teams stay good for a long time, much of the National Football League remains in a state of flux. This opens the door for underdogs. Coming into the NFL this season, everyone looks like the underdog compared to the New England Patriots. Even if that is the case, there is way more to consider than just whether a team would beat New England on a neutral field. Here are the best underdog picks to make for the 2017 NFL season, which kickoffs on September 7 at 8:30 PM EST.

With maybe the best group of wide receivers in the NFL and a defence that looks fearsome, the New York Giants are serious contenders in the NFC. At +900, the Giants have the fifth best odds to win the NFC, one spot behind their division rivals, the Dallas Cowboys.  With all the news coming out of Cowboys camp lately, the Giants are looking like the front-runners to win the NFC East – another possible bet to consider. Winning the division would help the Giants push for their third Super Bowl trip in the last decade.

While the Denver Broncos are a quarterback away from contending for the Super Bowl, they have enough talent on both sides of the ball to win their division and return to the playoffs after a one-year absence. The AFC West may be the strongest division in the NFL field at least two playoff teams. Even if the Oakland Raiders looks like the better team, there is a realistic chance that both them and Denver win 11 games, but the Broncos could sweep the season series, which would give them the tiebreaker and the division.

The health of Andrew Luck remains questionable, but considering how weak the Colts’ schedule is to start the season – playing the Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers in the first five weeks, the Indianapolis Colts could get by without Luck or by limiting him in the early parts of the season. Bringing back Luck later could be the smart decision. With all six of their division games coming in week six or later, a healthy and rested Luck could clean up in the AFC South and push the Colts to their first division title in since 2014.

Last year the Carolina Panthers suffered through a Super Bowl hangover – a term used to describe a down season following a trip to the big game. This year though the Panthers are poised to recovery may just have enough to get back to the promise land.

Cam Newton should see his numbers improve in 2017, as the Panthers have added more on offence. Their defence, in general, is one of the best units in the NFL. Overall Carolina is one of the more complete teams in the league and a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

Additional NFL Betting Tips

There are some tips to follow to be more successful when wagering on the National Football League. The first is to follow all NFL news. This time of year there is a constant flow of news updates, whether it is injuries, players returning to training camp, signings, releases and depth chart developments. Being aware of the news not only makes betting easier, but it can also help make predicting changes in lines and odds easier. Which leads us to the second tip – be aware of changing odds/lines for NFL futures and regular season prop bets.

Throughout the entire NFL season, but especially during the preseason, NFL future odds move. Whether it be Ryan Tannehill likely missing the season and the Miami Dolphins signing Jay Cutler or if it is Ezekiel Elliot’s six-game suspension, the big news will affect the betting lines. The lines will change through the season, after wins and losses, but since the most money on NFL futures is bet during the preseason, expect more drastic changes now, not later.
