NFL future lines opening after Week 14 have the New Orleans Saints as the favourites to win the Super Bowl, followed by the Rams, Chiefs and Patriots. None of those teams looked great in Week 14, opening the door to anyone once the playoffs start.

  • New Orleans since the favourite at +333, opened at +2000

The Best Bet to Win the Super Bowl – New Orleans Saints

Even if the New Orleans Saints did not play their best game on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Saints are well positioned to grab the top seed in the NFC. Brees and the Saints always play better at home or in a dome. Conveniently, this year’s Super Bowl is in a dome (in Atlanta on Sunday, February 3rd).

The Saints have enough on defence to win in the playoffs. Their pass-rush, led by Cameron Jordan, is capable of getting to the quarterback. They are also one of the best teams in the NFL at stopping the run. Their secondary is still a bit of a concern, but the team is slowly improving as Eli Apple (who the Saints traded for mid-season) adjusts to the system.

With how up-and-down the NFL has been this season, betting on a veteran quarterback having an MVP season is the best bet to win Super Bowl LIII.

Pick: New Orleans Saints to Win the Super Bowl +333

Do Not Sleep On – Seattle Seahawks +2500

After a strong showing on Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings, the Seattle Seahawks have all but clinched the fifth seed in the NFC. The Seahawks brand of football is designed for playoff success – a strong running game, a defence capable of creating takeaways and a quarterback with playoff success (Russell Wilson is tied with Eli Manning for the most Super Bowl appearances amongst starting NFC quarterbacks).

The Seahawks have a tough road to the Super Bowl, but they have played great football on the road this season. They have the third-best rushing offence on the road, and their defence ranks in the top ten in most categories away from home.

The Seattle Seahawks have also not lost a game this season by more than one score. With how good the Seahawks are playing now, they can beat any team in the league. At +2500 to win the Super Bowl, there is great value on the Seahawks, making them a great team to hedge in case one of the favourites collapses in the postseason.

Pick: Seattle Seahawks to Win the Super Bowl +2500

Other Team not to Sleep On: Los Angeles Chargers +1000

Team to Avoid – Pittsburgh Steelers +1800

Nine teams enter Week 15 with odds of +1800 or better to win the Super Bowl. Of all those teams, the one to avoid betting on to win the Super Bowl is the Pittsburgh Steelers. Not only are the Steelers a bad bet to win the Super Bowl, but they also may not even make the playoffs.

The Steelers still have the Patriots and Saints on the schedule, two games they could easily lose. If they lose both, the Steelers go into the final week of the season with a 7-7-1 record. The Ravens are now just a game behind the Steelers at 7-6, and even the Browns have an outside shot at winning the AFC North (if they can win out).

The Steelers miss Le’Veon Bell. While James Conner has been great this season, Bell’s dynamic abilities would have helped them avoid their current three-game winning streak. Overall, the value is not there on the Steelers.

Other Team to Avoid: Dallas Cowboys +1800
