The dream ride may be over. The Toronto Maple Leafs have been the media darlings for much of the regular season, as everyone either loves or hates their resurgence. But they’ve lost their last two games to the Washington Capitals and the ride may be over.
Washington vs Toronto 2017 NHL Playoff Odds
The Leafs have their backs up against the wall and are facing a must-win elimination game. Fortunately, it’s on their turf. They’ve got that much going for them. Which is nice. What they don’t have going for them is their opponent. The Washington Capitals have found their footing and are starting to look like Stanley Cup hopefuls again. They outlasted the Leafs 5-4 in Toronto, then beat them at home 2-1. They have all the momentum now, and the Leafs would have to beat them tonight and in a Game 7 in Washington.
The series has been nothing short of epic so far. One wonders, if the Capitals make it out of this series alive, how much they can have left emotionally for the next round. Because, my god. All 5 battles in this series have been decided by one goal, and four of the five had to go to overtime. This entire series is literally separated by a single goal. And it happened when Justin Williams went 5-hole on Frederik Andersen. So what can we expect in Game 6?
Game 6s are often better than the Game 7 that follow. You’ve got one team playing hungry (Caps) to put this team down, while the other team is playing with a fiery desperation (Leafs) to keep their season going and force a Game 7. The Leafs will be playing at home and you can expect The Air Canada Centre to be absolutely ape. I’m taking the Leafs tonight to force a Game 7 and prolong the best series of the 2017 playoffs. Bold statement, but I stand by it.

Washington vs Toronto Game 6 Prediction
The Game: This game will be played at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. But most of Ontario will be cheering the Leafs on, except for diehard Senators fans. But even they would love to see the Leafs advance and play the Sens. The Caps are going to have to sustain the opening period rush and intensity that the Leafs will bring.
Prediction: Washington (-1.5) at Sports Interaction
They have already proven they can do that, but I predict the Leafs will be victorious, before the Caps win Game 7 in Washington. Asking the Leafs to win these next two games is too much, but I predict they will get the W tonight and bring one hell of a fight to Game 7.
