Who will win the 2018 Grey Cup?

After a long season and fun playoffs, the 2018 Grey Cup is set with a rematch from 2016. The Ottawa Redblacks beat the Calgary Stampeders back in 2016 and have a chance to make it three straight Grey Cups for the East. However, the Stampeders are too good to become the first team in over 60 years to lose three straight Grey Cups.
Grey Cup Facts and Stats
- Ottawa 1-1 all-time in the Grey Cup
- Calgary 7-9 all-time in the Grey Cup (lost their last two appearances)
- East teams won last two Grey Cups
- Only one team in the previous 20 years has scored more than 40 points in the Grey Cup
- Five of the last seven Grey Cups feature more than 50 points total
Grey Cup Winner Predictions
While the Calgary Stampeders have been the best team in the Canadian Football League the last few years, the Ottawa Redblacks have played the Western juggernaut quite well, including their 39-33 overtime victory in the 2016 Grey Cup. The Stampeders did sweep the season series this season but winning three games against one opponent in a calendar year is never easy.
The Redblacks open as 4.0-point underdogs to Calgary (in Edmonton) but the Redblacks have managed to cover four straight games (with two of those games coming as underdogs). The Redblacks are the inferior team in this matchup, but they have enough talent to keep the game close. If you consider this a road game (as it does take place in Alberta), the Ottawa Redblacks are 5-4 ATS on the road this season. The Stampeders are 5-5 ATS at home and 5-4 ATS on the road.
Including the 2016 Grey Cup, five of the last seven games between these two teams have seen Ottawa either win, tie or loss by four points or less. Overall the spread is a better bet on Ottawa, but the Calgary Stampeders on the moneyline is also offering excellent value at -160.
Pick: Ottawa Redblacks +4.0 (-110)

Best Game Prop – Calgary Winning Margin
Since the Grey Cup is the biggest football game every year in Canada, the number of prop bets available on the game increases. For this year’s Grey Cup, the best value for a prop best is on the winning margin. If you are confident the Calgary Stampeders can win the game, but the score will be close, then Calgary to win by 1 to 6 points (+350) is the best prop bet.
The last four Grey Cup have all been decided by 6 points or less (and 7 of the previous 11). The neutral site, cold weather and that no team is playing at home should help keep the game close. Of the four games in the last 11 years decided by more than six points, two came in a dome, and two came with the host city’s team winning more than eight. The only outlier is the Calgary Stampeders beating the Montreal Alouettes in Montreal (back in 2008) 22-14.
Pick: Calgary Stampeders Winning Margin 1-6 (+350)
