UFC 270 Betting Predictions

The first numbered UFC event of 2022 is a doozy and includes two championship fights — one of which is a trilogy. If you want betting advice on those two bouts, plus one more, read on! Our UFC 270 betting predictions are free-of-cost and we're confident they'll help you out big-time when wagering!

UFC 270 goes down on Saturday, January 22. The Honda Center in Anaheim, California will have hosting duties. With "housekeeping" out of the way, let's get into our betting advice:

Francis Ngannou vs. Ciryl Gane Betting Pick

The top Canada sportsbooks have the main event heavyweight title fight at almost pick 'em, though the interim champion, Gane, is a slight favourite. Before we jump into our own Ngannou vs. Ciryl betting pick, let's see how close the odds currently are:

When evaluating the title matchup, the "clash of styles" becomes very apparent. Ngannous is a knockout artist in every sense of the word. Twelve of his 16 career wins have come by knockout. Moreover, the champ is currently riding a five-fight streak — and in four of those victories, he finished his opponent in under two minutes. Quite simply, no one throws punches as hard as Ngannou right now in the UFC.

Gane isn't nearly as deadly, but he is the more complete fighter. His shifty style has shown a tendency to systematically wear down opponents. Gane is a perfect 10-0 and the wins are almost evenly split — four by decision, three by knockout, and three more by submission.

For us, the biggest X-factor come main-event time is whether Gane has a chin to withstand Ngannou's force. As elusive as Gane is, Ngannou WILL connect with one of those clubbing shots at some point mid-fight. Can Gane, who has never faced a fighter with that much KO power, shake it off or fold? Our money says the latter happens.

If we're being honest, does anyone in this division have the chin to hang with Ngannou? We don't think so. As Dana White said, catching a fist from him is like "being hit by a car." Ngannou has all-time-great level power, which we believe he'll use to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.

Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno Betting Pick

UFC trilogies are usually special and this flyweight one is no different. The first fight ended in a draw before Moreno came back and, more or less, dominated the second fight to become division champion. And we'll be right up front and say it: Moreno is our betting pick in the semi-main event.

Why? Because Moreno looked like a completely different fight between the two fights. In the rematch, he attacked the then-champion Figueiredo with speed and precision a notch above the first time around. And at only 28 years old, we could see an even better Moreno in this rubber match. Surely, the almost hometown crowd will help. Moreno grew up in Tijuana, Mexico, which is a few hours' drive from Anaheim (and the city has a huge Mexican population anyway).

Whereas Moreno is entering the prime of his career, we believe Figueiredo is heading toward the twilight of his. The Brazilian has dominated this division since his UFC debut in 2017, but he just turned 34 years old. We just don't sense Figueiredo can clean up the miscues which cost him the second fight, which makes Moreno the smart betting choice.

Aleksei Oleinik vs. Greg Hardy Betting Pick

Sports bettors, remember Greg Hardy? The one-time NFL stud defensive lineman for Carolina and Dallas? Welp, he's alive and well in the UFC with a respectable 7-4 record. Respectable because he's only been training in MMA for five years or so. Hardy should have a winnable matchup against Alexey Oleynik at UFC 270.

There are few journeyman fighters quite like Oleynik. The Russian has fought 76 times in MMA before. 76! He's 44 years old and likely has a gaudy amount of scar tissue all over his face. He's on a three-fight losing streak, two of which ended with him KO'd. Hardy may not be a likable guy, but we believe he'll make us cash with a straight-up wager here!
