Two belts and a highly anticipated rematch as the headline help UFC 260 follow up one of the biggest ever at UFC 259. The main event between Miocic and Ngannou is finally happening after three years. Miocic is joined by fellow champion Volkanovski, who puts his Featherweight Championship on the line against Brian Ortega. Main Event: Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou 2 Betting Preview

It took over three years – but Francis Ngannou is finally getting a second chance at fighting Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. The two first fought at UFC 220, all the way back in January 2018.

Miocic dominated Ngannou in the first fight – using a mixture of strikes, clinches, and a ground game to pummel and control Ngannou – on route to a five-round victory by unanimous decision.

Since the fight, Miocic has only fought one other opponent – winning two of his three fights against Daniel Cormier – including one to regain the UFC Heavyweight Championship, after he lost to Cormier in their first fight. His last fight was a win in the rubber match against Cormier at UFC 252.

Since losing to Miocic at UFC 220, Ngannou has been on an absolute tear. He has four straight first-round wins by KO/TKO, with the most recent coming at UFC 249 against Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

So, who will win the rematch between these goliaths of the heavyweight division?

After witnessing how Ngannou’s game has evolved since his loss to Miocic – we are betting on him to win the rematch. He has improved his form over the last two years while retaining the power that made him a top heavyweight contender.

He is also going into this fight with the chip on his shoulder – after being denied a rematch for three years. In the first fight, Stipe was the one who felt disrespected – as many pundits were picking Ngannou to end Miocic’s reign as Heavyweight Championship.

Ngannou also has the age advantage entering this fight. While heavyweights – who more often rely on power and skill over speed and stamina – have a more extended prime, they tend to decline the closer they are to 40. Take Cormier vs. Miocic as an example. Cormier won the first of the three fights at 39 but lost the next two – as age started to catch up to him. Miocic turns 39 in August, while Francis Ngannou hits 35 in September (the age of Stipe when he won the first fight).

Overall, this fight should entertain – and we are not expecting an early knockout, so do not wager on such when UFC fight props open – and we are taking Francis Ngannou to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship.

Pick: Francis Ngannou (1.69) to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship

Co-Main Event Betting Picks: Alexander Volkanovski vs. Brian Ortega for the UFC Featherweight Championship

Brian Ortega2.551.48Alexander Volkanovski

The co-main event at UFC 260 sees Alexander Volkanovski going for a second UFC Featherweight defence when he faces second-ranked featherweight, Brian Ortega. Alexander Volkanovski is the favourite to win the fight at Sports Interaction – and we like him to retain his championship against Ortega.

This fight is the first between the two – so there is no historic fight data to draw from. However, both fighters have entered the octagon in the last 27 months against Max Holloway.

Volkanovski won the Featherweight belt against Holloway at UFC 245 and successfully defended it against him at UFC 251. Ortega lost to Max Holloway back at UFC 231 – in a fight for the Featherweight Championship. The results against Holloway are the first edge for Volkanovski.

The second is Volkanovski’s striking ability paired with the extreme rate Ortega absorbs strikes. Volkanovski lands 6.15 significant strikes per minute, just outside the top ten for all active fighters in the UFC. Ortega absorbs 7.36 significant strikes per minute – one of the worst rates of any UFC fighter and more than double the 3.14 Volkanovski absorbs.

Ortega needs to get Volkanovski to the ground if he is to have any chance at victory. However, Volkanovski is not easy to take down – due to his shorter legs and longer arms, which allows him to defend 72% of takedowns. Take Volkanovski to defend his championship.

Pick: Alexander Volkanovski to Defend the UFC Featherweight Championship

Underdog Alert: Sean O’Malley vs. Thomas Almeida

Fighter 110Bet10BetFighter 2
Sean O'Malley1.273.30Thomas Almeida

As much flare and fun Sean O’Malley brings to the octagon, he has not done enough to be such a large favourite against Thomas Almeida – especially since this is likely a must-win fight for Almeida. Almeida’s UFC career has been rocky as of late. He is 1-4 since 2016 – with the single win coming in 2016.

However, he is only 29 and showed a lot of promise early in his career – starting 21-0 in his MMA career. He withdrew from a fight in 2018 due to vision problems – which sidelined him for all of 2019. A strange injury that likely caused his slide in 2017 and 2018.

He finally returned to the octagon in October 2020 – and although he lost – he looks like he is getting his mojo back, lasting all three rounds against Jonathan Martinez. We can see Almeida coming out even stronger against O’Malley and love the betting value available at 10Bet.

Pick: Thomas Almeida (3.30) to Win the Fight
