Super Bowl LVI Preview

Upon pulling off comebacks in each of the Conference Championship games, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams are both set for Super Bowl LVI.

The game is set for Sunday, February 13, 2022, and will be taking place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Heading into the Conference Championship games, the Bengals were 9.00 and the Rams were 3.10 to win the Super Bowl odds over at Sports Interaction.

As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in last year's Super Bowl, SoFi Stadium is home to the Rams, so, the Rams will also have that unique home-field advantage this year and it is demonstrated in the odds as the Rams are currently sitting at four-point favourites at Sports Interaction.

Quarterback these teams are Joe Burrow for the Bengals and Matthew Stafford for the Rams. Both of these quarterbacks were No. 1 overall picks.

The last time two No. 1 overall pick quarterbacks met in the Super Bowl was Super Bowl 50 when Peyton Manning and Cam Newton met up.

Here, we will look at the best bets for the Super Bowl LVI NFL odds this week, with all odds courtesy of Sports Interaction.

Super Bowl LVI Game Betting Picks

We’re down to the final two teams in the NFL and, interestingly enough, both of these squads match up fairly well.

Both teams have an offence that can light up the scoreboard and while the Bengals' defence may not have the star names, they have played well this entire postseason.

The one matchup to watch will be the Rams pass rush against a weakened Bengals offensive line.

With that out of the way, let’s get into the picks.

Spread: Bengals +4 (1.87)

The Rams head into this game with a unique home-field advantage but do not underestimate how well The Jungle will show out.

This postseason, Burrow has two interceptions, though one of them was not his fault. On top of that, Burrow has a number of options including wide receiver Tyler Boyd, Tee Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase, and running back Joe Mixon.

The Rams have an excellent pass rush which should be able to do some damage similar to the Tennessee Titans and the pain they inflicted on the Bengals, but with a tight end, C.J. Uzomah sidelined, this gives the Bengals the ability to use a tight end along the offensive line to act as a sixth lineman.

In terms of cornerback and wide receiver matchups, Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey is going to be a problem, of course. Will he cover Chase? It’s unclear, but even if he does, Chase is talented enough to still get in some work and, thanks to the myriad other options, this will open up opportunities for other players to contribute.

Even if you don’t believe in a Bengals win, they’ll be in this one until the very end.

Bengals +4 To cover the spread

Moneyline: Bengals (2.52)

The Bengals have shown that they will scratch and claw (no pun intended) until the very end, as evidenced by their massive comeback against the Kansas City Chiefs.

There’s no secret that the offensive line, especially the right side with Isaiah Prince and Hakeem Adeniji is going to have their work cut out for them with Von Miller and Leonard Floyd breathing down their neck.

However, when it comes to ball security, Burrow is the quarterback to rely on.

Stafford has been excellent this postseason, throwing just one interception, but he is someone who could throw a costly interception that just might be enough to swing this game in the Bengals' favour.

Even being sacked nine times against the Titans, the Bengals still found a way to win against the Titans. No, they weren’t going up against wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr., but this defence has not let a team score more than 24, and before that, none have scored over 20.

Burrow will keep this game clean, there will be a tight end in there to help slow down the pass rush, and Burrow, coming off an injury-shortened season, will lead the Bengals to the Super Bowl title.

Total: Over 48.5 (1.91)

If the Bengals offensive line is unable to hold up against the pass rush this game will go under.

However, the Bengals coaching staff headlined by head coach Zac Taylor will go into this game with a game plan, especially, again, without Uzomah.

Both of these offences are ready to roll and although the defences are quite good, they can only slow down the other team’s offence so much.

This game could turn into a tight, low-scoring affair, but with the way both of these quarterbacks are playing this postseason, it’s much more likely to expect a 30-27 or 27-24 type of game—both of which would get the over.

The defences will come up and make plays and if Stafford does have a costly turnover, that will also help push the total over.
