Original Six Battle Between Toronto and Detroit is the Best Bet this Saturday in the NHL

After picking up a much-needed overtime win against the Chicago Blackhawks – the Toronto Maple Leafs heads home to face another Original Six – the Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings are playing well this season – despite being the underdog on the best NHL betting sites in six of seven games (and are again against Florida on Friday night).

Detroit is 4-2-1 this season and 5-2 on the puckline. The young team is showing improvement from last season – although they are in the middle of an eight-game stretch, with seven road games (with the only home game against the 7-0-0 Florida Panthers).

Leafs Detroit bets oct 30

The Leafs have not played up to their standard this season. The Leafs are 1-7 on the puckline this year. They have some issues on offence and defence – and it is hard to take too much from their win against the winless Blackhawks. It should be a good game, but it is hard to bet on the Leafs until we see a quality win.

Boston Look for Revenge Against Florida Following Loss on Wednesday

The Boston Bruins took a loss on Wednesday (4-1) to the Florida Panthers and will look for some revenge when they host them on Saturday. While Florida was a good team last season, they are the best team in the NHL to start the 2021-22 season, with a 7-0-0- record.

Boston followed up their loss to Florida with a 3-0 loss to Carolina. Boston seems to have some offensive woes early in the season. Through six games, they are only averaging 2.50 goals per game (down 16.7% from last season).

That would normally not be a big issue for the Bruins. However, with Tuukka Rask gone – they lack a proven netminder to start the season. Over time, Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman should turn into a reliable tandem – but for now, it is hard to bet on the Bruins when they need those guys to allow two goals or less to win games.

Flames and Flyers Fight for Two Points at the Saddledome

One of the best games of the night is between the Flyers and Flames. Both teams look good this season – with Flames winning 4-0 against the Penguins on Thursday night, while the Flyers have seven of ten points and a +9-goal differential (before the Vancouver game).

We like the Flames – because we want to ride the hot goaltender in this game. Over his last three games, Jacob Markstrom is a maniac in the net. He has a save percentage of .991 and two shutouts.

Flames also have two of the hottest goal scorers early in the season – Elias Lindholm and Andrew Mangiapane (both with seven goal). Johnny Gaudreau got his first goal of the season on Thursday and now leads the team with nine points. It should be a great game and a good test for Calgary early in the season.

Oilers Look to Continue Scoring Flurry Against the Canucks

Edmonton is looking better than any Canadian team this season – thanks to one of the best offences in the NHL. Connor McDavid (as of Thursday) leads the NHL with 15 points, while Leon Draisaitl is not far behind with 12 points (both in six games).

The Oilers are averaging 4.33 goals per game this season – and will likely keep the scoring up against the Canucks on Saturday night. Last season the Oilers scored 33 goals against the Canucks in 10 games. McDavid was involved in 67% of those goals, with eight goals and 14 assists in the ten games.

Vancouver (before their game against Philadelphia on Thursday) has been involved in five games with at least five goals (in seven games so far this season). The first game – a loss to Edmonton ended 3-2 with the under hitting. The Canucks offence is picking it up a bit lately, averaging 3.33 goals in their last three.

The Canucks goaltending is unpredictable as well, allowing at least three goals in four games this season. We like the over in this game to cap off a great Saturday night.
