Find our thoughts and predictions in our Olympic soccer betting preview below.

Men's Olympics Soccer Betting Predictions

Men's soccer at the Olympics functions differently than the women's tournament. The teams are constructed mostly of players 23 or under (at least 20 players 23 and younger, and no more than three players older than 23).

Spain the Favourite to Win Thanks to an Influx of Young Talent

Spain's Olympics failures have been well-documented this century. After capturing a Silver Medal at the 2000 Summer Games, Spain proceeded to miss three of the following four Olympics and finish in 14th at the 2012 Summer Games in London.

But with six young players from the 2020 Euro Cup squad on the roster – including Pedri Gonzalez, who played every minute for Spain at the Euro Cup and could be the best player at the Olympic Tournament.

They also have Unai Simon – who gained plenty of experience in net for the Spanish team at the 2020 Euro Cup. A few huge stops against Switzerland in penalty kicks helped him win the Star of the Match, with him playing well in Spain's loss to Italy in the Semi-Finals.

Marco Asensio also claims to finally be 100% healthy after dealing with nagging injuries since 2019. If he can play well and with the experience, he brings to the team, Spain can take home the Gold Medal at the 2021 Summer Games.

South Korea in a Weak Group has a Path to Medal

Without much argument, the weakest group at the men's tournament is Group B. New Zealand, Honduras, and Romania do not scream soccer powerhouses, opening the door for South Korea to win their group.

South Korea's U-23 team is coming off their best two appearances at the Olympics – a fifth-place in 2016 and a Bronze Medal in 2012. Obviously, many of the players have aged out of the U-23 since the last Olympics – but the infrastructure and growth of the game remain five years later.

The team is also coming off a Gold Medal at the 2020 AFC U-23 Asian Cup – dominating opponents with a 6-0-0 record and a +7 goal differential.

South Korea (assuming they win their group) will play the runner-up from Group A. With France most likely to win their group, the countries they could face are Japan, Mexico, or South Africa. South Africa is likely the last place team – leaving Japan and Mexico. Mexico could be short some players due to the ongoing 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup, while South Korea is 3-0-1 against Japan dating back to the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Things get their most challenging in the Semi-Finals, but not impossible. The best countries cannibalized each other in the previous games – giving South Korea an opportunity to pull off some upsets en route to a Gold Medal.

Women's Olympics Soccer Betting Predictions

Twelve countries enter the 2020 Summer Games with their sights set on one thing – winning the Gold Medal. Germany enters the Summer Games as the reigning Champions, while the United States has captured four of the six Gold Medals in the event's history.

Can Canada's Women's Team Finally take Home the Gold?

Canada's Women's National Team is coming off consecutive Bronze Medals at the Summer Olympics – with hopes to improve their results in 2021. Canada is in a tough group with Japan and Great Britain but has an experienced team with top-tier goalscorers.

Christine Sinclair enters the game as the all-time leading international goal scorer – including 11 at the Olympics in 15 games. Joining Sinclair are Ashley Lawrence and Nichelle Prince, who provide depth and playmaking for the Canadian roster and Janine Beckie (who tied Sinclair with three goals at the 2016 Summer Games).

Canada also has one of the best keepers in the tournament – Kailen Sheridan. Sheridan is a former first-team ACC All-American and recently won the NWSL Challenge Cup Golden Glove award (2020). She has picked up six clean sheets in ten caps from Canada. Overall, Canada's experience and depth make them one of the best teams at the Summer Olympics.

The United States' Women's National Team Remains the Team to Beat

As the reigning World Cup champions and four-time Gold Medalist, the United States soccer betting odds have them as the favourites to win the Gold Medal.

The team is loaded with talent – including Alex Morgan, who returns to the team after the birth of her first child – Megan Rapinoe (who has 57 goals for the United States), and Carli Lloyd, a member of their 2008 and 2012 Gold Medal teams.

The U.S. has been the best women's team in the world this century, continuously building a solid roster of veterans and youngsters. Many of the older players may also be in their final Summer Games – giving the group extra motivation to bring home the Gold.
