Stanley Cup Finals 2021 Betting Predictions
The Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning duke it out for the 2021 Stanley Cup. Get ready for
The Stanley Cup Finals are here – featuring two Eastern Conference teams ending what was a bizarre year of hockey. The Tampa Bay Lightning open the series as the favourites to repeat as Stanley Cup champions. However, there is a path for Montreal to upset the reigning champs we outline in our Stanley Cup Finals 2021 betting predictions. The Finals start on Monday, June 28 and will run until July 11 at the latest.

Why the Tampa Bay Lightning Will Win the Stanley Cup?
The stat that stands out instantly when you look at the Lightning is their +21 goal differential. The Winnipeg Jets in two series did not even score 21 goals.
Tampa Bay is getting all-time production out of Nikita Kucherov (more on him later), along with stellar performances from Brayden Point and Steven Stamkos. But Tampa Bay is not only a high-scoring well-oiled machine (they also lead the NHL in goals during the regular season without Kucherov).
Their goaltender – Andrei Vasilevskiy – is as good as Carey Price, if not better. With that guy tending the net and guys like Victor Hedman in front of him, the boy is this team as stacked as any team since the NHL introduced the salary cap (if you remember the Avalanche and Red Wings before the 2004 lockout, you know what I am talking about).
The depth of this team is what should put fear into the Montreal Canadiens. Usually, you would state – they can win if the team stays healthy. But this Tampa Bay Lightning team put up the most goals without Kucherov playing a single regular-season game.
Tampa Bay has five players with more points than the highest scoring Canadiens player. If this series turns into a bloodbath of scoring, it will be nearly impossible to match Tampa’s scoring over a seven-game series.
Before concluding why Tampa Bay will win the Cup – we would be remiss not to talk about Brayden Point. Point has 14 goals this postseason. The all-time NHL record for the postseason is 19 – by Reggie Leach in 1976 and Jari Kurri in 1985.
Pick: Tampa Bay Lightning (1.42) to win the 2021 Stanley Cup
Why the Montreal Canadiens Will Win the Stanley?
Turn back the clock to the Montreal Canadiens down 3-1 to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Down and basically out, Carey Price and the Habs have since rallied off an 11-2 stretch and outscoring their opponents 39 to 22.
Montreal is seemingly unstoppable in the NHL Playoffs. They score shorthanded more than they allow power-play goals. Carey Price is putting on a one-man show (especially in game six against Vegas) with a .934 save percentage and 2.02 GAA.
If Price keeps his production at “best goaltender in the world levels,” it is hard to beat this team four times in seven games. Suppose Price continues to play at the same level – and guys like Tyler Toffoli and Nick Suzuki can continue to be near a point per game players. In that case, the Canadiens can continue their improbable Playoff run to a 24th Stanley Cup.
Pick: Montreal Canadiens (2.90) to win the 2021 Stanley Cup
How Many Games Will the Stanley Cup Finals Last?
|When Will Sereis Finish|
Sweeps are not the bet to make on the Finals. The last time a team swept their opponent in the Stanley Cup Finals was 1997 (in fact, the fourth straight sweep, but that type of stuff does not seem to happen anymore).
If you look at the last ten Stanley Cup Finals – six games is the most frequent result – happening six times. Tampa Bay won last year in six games. They also lost to the Chicago Blackhawks in six games.
Even though we are leaning much more towards the Lightning winning the Cup, we expect the Canadiens will steal a game and likely win another game thanks to Carey Price. Bet six games.
Pick: Total Games Stanley Cup Finals (4.75) Six

Two weeks ago, we talked about the greatness of Nikita Kucherov during the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs – and two weeks later, we are still in awe at his production. Kucherov has 27 points in 18 games (which includes a game he missed part of) – seven more points than a second-place scorer and Lightning teammate Brayden Point.
Kucherov’s production this postseason is at levels not seen since Mario Lemieux, and the Pittsburgh Penguins dusted the competition en route to their first Stanley Cup. While Kucjerov is unlikely to match Lemieux’s 44 points in 23 games, he still has an outside chance at 40 points this postseason – meaning he will join Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky as the only players to accomplish the feat in a single playoff run.
Pick: Nikita Kucherov (3.86) to win the Conn Smythe
