Way-Too-Early Predictions To Win 2023 NCAAF Championship

The NCAA national title was just decided as Georgia, at last, defeat rival Alabama. Since we're already missing college football, why not make some early predictions to win the 2022 NCAAF championship? This advice could come in handy for futures bettors that can wait a year from now to get paid.

It didn't take long for betting lines for the 2022 season to be posted online, they were up the day after the Alabama-Georiga showdown ended. They haven't budged since (and might not for the new few months), but as it stands, these programs are most favoured to be national champs this time next year:

2022 NCAAF Champion Betting Picks

A lot can happen from now and until the season starts, a little less when the College Football Playoff begins at the end of the year. Knowing that, we wouldn't advise anyone to drop a substantial bet on this 2022 NCAAF champion futures wager yet — unless of course, you have a huge betting bankroll and a few hundred dollars is play money to you. But when you are ready to drop a wager, you should look into these two schools first and foremost:

Alabama Crimson Tide

This first pick should come as no surprise. Nick Saban and Alabama have been near-automatic bets in this category for the past 12 or so years. That is no different in 2022 and if anything, you should be extra emboldened to bet on the Tide this upcoming season.

Why? Well, sure, 'Bama is going to lose several players to the NFL Draft, that's a yearly thing. But what makes 2022 different is the program is going to return its two best players on the team. Of course, we're talking about the Heisman winner Bryce Young and fifth-place Heisman finisher, linebacker Will Anderson. That's no small thing, which is why we'd vouch for a futures bet on them over, say, Georgia, who won't have the same calibre of holdovers from its current title team.

Young might've struggled mightily against Georgia in the finale (albeit without his two best pass-catchers), but let's not forget the incredible campaign he put together en route to the Heisman. The junior-to-be finished second in the country with 47 passing touchdowns and 4,872 yards. Could Young become only the second-ever player to become a repeat Heisman Trophy winner? It's a real possibility because this kid is good and he'll have an array of weapons surrounding him.

Heck, if someone is going to unseat him from the Heisman conversation, it might just be teammate, Anderson. The linebacker makes his presence known on the defensive side, evident by his 34.5 tackles for a loss this past season — which was 12.5 more than the next-best player. In a sport dominated by offensive playmakers, Anderson is an outlier, which makes his Heisman potential even greater.

We could spend the rest of the article talking about all the new five-star recruits that the Tide will thrust into action this next year, but you probably already know that. The point is, Saban is not someone you want to bet against. Don't try any funny stuff and take the Tide at +275 to avenge this title-game loss.

Ohio State Buckeyes

Returning key players was the rationale of our first betting pick and it also goes for our second one, the Buckeyes. Young needed a massive SEC championship game performance to win the Heisman, but before that, Ohio State's C.J. Stroud was the frontrunner. Welp, Stroud is back for 2022 and he'll have reigns over an offence that led the nation in scoring (45.7 PPG) and yards (561.2 per game) this past season. And Stroud won't be alone either.

Joining Stroud on offence will be running back TreVeyon Henderson (1,255 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns) and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Nigba (95 catches for 1,606 yards and nine scores). The ingredients are there for the Buckeyes to once again be the nation's most high-flying attack.

Buckeyes were tripped up by shoddy defence in 2021, but if that side of the ball can just improve, then the program should be championship contenders again. They are a perfect compliment to Bama for 2022 futures.

How To Bet On NCAAF Futures?

Betting on NCAAF futures isn't just limited to the 2022 national champion. Nope, that's only the tip of the iceberg. Other futures bets on the conference and Heisman Trophy winners are also there for the taking at the top Canada sportsbooks. Still, you can lock in quality betting prices during the offseason period.

These same sites also have a multitude of sportsbook bonuses available to bettors.
