NBA Betting Picks For February 2nd, 2022

The NBA is hosting nine games for the February 2, 2022 slate, featuring teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets.

Here, we take a look at the slate and offer up our three best bets on the 2/2/22 slate, featuring the Portland Trail Blazers, Charlotte Hornets, and the Nets.

NBA February 2, 2022 Preview

Before we head into the far shorter set of games on Thursday, the NBA is giving us nine games on this Wednesday, February 2, 2022 slate

There are a number of injuries that will impact lines and outcomes tonight, so with that, we have a total of three games to account for as our best bets for tonight’s action.

NBA 02/02/2022 Betting Picks

On a nine-game slate, we are going into tonight with three games that should provide us with some value.

Among the best bets tonight, they include the LeBron James-less Los Angeles Lakers and the Kevin Durant-less Brooklyn Nets.

With all of these bets, we are getting the basketball betting lines from Sports Interaction, so be sure to head over there after reading this to make your bets before tip-off tonight.

Boston Celtics vs. Charlotte Hornets: Hornets +6 (1.91)

The Charlotte Hornets are an extremely entertaining team to watch. In a way, they’re almost reminiscent of those Carmelo Anthony-era New York Knicks teams in that this team can score a ton of points, but the defence is non-existent.

This is shown in the numbers, too, as the Hornets rank second in the league in pace of play and also first in points per game.

Defensively, however, they rank inside the bottom three in the league and give up pretty much the same amount of points (114.6) as they score (114.5).

The Celtics on the other hand are a below-average offence in terms of points per game ranking 19th in the league, but are a top-four defence in terms of opposing points per game, only allowing 104.6 per outing.

With a six-point spread, this feels like a lot given the Hornets' offensive prowess. To be fair, though, we’ve seen them absolutely drop duds in the scoring column in certain games, and when that happens, they lose big.

Even on the road, I think the Hornets will be able to get up and down the court in this one and stay competitive in Boston and cover a point spread bet of +6.

Sacramento Kings vs. Brooklyn Nets: Nets -4 (1.91)

Even without Kevin Durant, the Brooklyn Nets are simply a better team, talent-wise, than the Sacramento Kings.

Without Durant, though, this could be the Kings’ time to shine, but they are dealing with a plethora of injuries heading into tonight’s home game.

The two headlines injuries include forward Marvin Bagley and guard De’Aaron Fox. Bagley has already been ruled out with a left ankle sprain, whereas Fox is questionable with left ankle soreness.

Fox has missed the last five Kings games and this has allowed Tyrese Haliburton to have a larger impact.

The Kings are on a seven-game losing streak, though, and sure, this could be a letdown spot for the Nets, but the talent mismatch here is worth a bit more than just four points.

Give me the road team in this one

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Portland Trail Blazers: Trail Blazers +3.5 (1.91)

The Lakers have been a middling team all season long and currently sit at ninth in the Western Conference.

Their opponent tonight, the Portland Trail Blazers, rank 10th in West with a 21-30 record.

As mentioned, the Lakers are without James in this one and Anthony Davis is listed as probable but should be able to suit up. Also, head coach Frank Vogel announced that Malik Monk will start this game as he gives the team the best chance to score on offence.

Both of these teams rank low in opposing points allowed with the Lakers sitting at 27th in the league and the Trail Blazers at 26th.

The Lakers have a winning record at home, but they’re just 15-12 and without James, these two teams will likely give one another a lot of points on the scoreboard and keep it close.

With a short line like this, it’s easy to lean the Lakers with their recognizable names, but the Blazers have some guys who can score and oppose this Lakers team.

This is a bit of a risk, but I’ll take the Trail Blazers on the road getting 3.5.
