Canada has three great teams this season – Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto. Looking at each of the teams and the best Stanley Cup betting lines available – we are going with the Toronto Maples Leafs as our pick to end Canada’s Cup drought.

The Maple Leafs are playing excellent in every facet of the game. They rank third in goals allowed per game – with goaltender Jack Campbell a serious candidate for the 2022 Vezina Trophy. They have an elite powerplay ranking third at 27.27%, while also killing penalties above the league average.

Auston Matthews continues to develop his game and is one of the best goal scorers in the NHL. Of course, it is not just Matthews producing on offence. The Leafs have five players with 20 or more points this season. No other team in the National Hockey League has more than four (as of December 8).

Toss in some grittiness and physicality that the team has been missing the last few seasons, and Toronto is the best bet to win the 2022 Stanley Cup.

Two months into the 2021-22 NHL Season, one of the biggest surprises is the Minnesota Wild. While they had some expectations this season – at least a playoff team – few expected them to have the best record in the Western Conference 25 games into the season.

NHL futures and picks december 2021

Much of their success is due to a seven-game winning streak. It is an impressive streak too, with wins against the Lightning, Maple Leafs, Oilers, and Jets. The Wild are winning because they have a deep roster. The Wild have 12 players this season with at least ten points. That is above the league average of 8.34 players.

Their best player this season is Kirill Kaprizov (the reigning Calder Trophy winner). Kaprizov is developing into an elite playmaker this season. His 21 assists this season is tied for fifth in the league – and are a big reason why the Wild rank third in goals per game. Overall, we like the best NHL betting lines on the Minnesota Wild to win the Central Division in 2022.

Tight Race between Draisaitl and Ovechkin for Rocket Richard

To Win the Rocket Richard TrophyBet99

What is better during an NHL season (excluding your team doing well) than a tight race for the Rocket Ricard. Nearly a third in the 2021-22 NHL Season, that is what we are getting from Leon Draisaitl and Alexander Ovechkin. Draisaitl leads the NHL with 21 goals in 24 games, followed by Ovechkin with 20 in 26 games. So, who is the better bet to win the Rocket Richard?

As great as Draisaitl is playing, it is unreasonable to expect him to keep scoring at 25.3% for an entire season. The last player in NHL to meet the minimal requirement for shooting percentage (minimum 82 shoots in a season) and finish above 25% for the season was Mike Ribeiro in 2008. Ribeiro set a career-high that season with 27 goals.

Draisaitl is likely to finish the season closer to his previous career-high shooting percentage of 21.6% (which led the NHL in 2019). That is better than any season in Ovechkin’s career.

The problem for Draisaitl is he does not come close to taking as many shots as Ovi. Ovechkin has taken at least 300 shots every season of his career excluding 2012 (48-game season) and 2020 (56-game season). Draisaitl’s career-high in shots is 231. Even with a 21.6% shooting percentage that season, he lost the Rocket Richard Trophy to Ovechkin.

Ducks’ Rookie Trevor Zegras is our Pick for the Calder

The race for the 2022 Calder Trophy is right now between two players – Trevor Zegras and Lucas Raymond. While both are playing well (each guy has 22 points as of December 8), we are giving a slight edge to Trevor Zegras.

Zegras is a key player for the Anaheim Ducks this season – who are arguably the biggest overachievers 27 games in the season. He ranks second on the team in points – which currently holds the two-spot in the Pacific Division. His playmaking abilities (16 assists) help the Ducks rank in the top ten in goals per game.

He is getting better as the season progresses. Following a slow start, Zegras is averaging over 1.00 points per game over the Ducks last 19. If he keeps it up and gets the Ducks into the playoffs, he will take home the 2022 Calder Trophy.
