We have doubted Jake Paul time after time in these exhibition fights. We thought Nate Robinson’s athletic history would give him an advantage when the two fought on the Roy Jones Jr. vs. Mike Tyson undercard.

We thought Ben Askren’s experience in professional MMA would help him win (not showing up looking like a blob and getting knocked out within minutes). So, after our previous mistakes, we are changing our tune and backing the younger Paul Brother against Tyron Woodley.

Paul has the advantages in this fight in height and reach. He also weights more than Woodley and is more accustomed to fighting at 190 lbs (even if Woodley says he cuts 20 lbs many fights to hit 170 lbs). Paul has only shown he has quite the pop in his punch – and the more he trains, the better he is getting.

Woodley looks past his prime. At 39 years old, Woodley’s best days look behind him. He has lost four straight fights in the UFC (with his last win coming in 2018). Woodley’s skills may also not translate well from the Octagon to the ring. Woodley is a talented wrestler with a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu – techniques based on grappling, ground fighting, and submissions. Not skills to help you win a boxing match.

Take Jake Paul to win the fight and improve his record to 4-0. And hopefully, after another win against an MMA fighter, he finally considers scheduling a legitimate boxer in his fifth professional fight.

Other Fights Announced for the Undercard

As of the first week of August, we are starting to see some more details emerge on the undercard at Paul vs. Woodley. The biggest of the fights is between Tommy Fury and Anthony Taylor.

Tommy Fury vs. Anthony Taylor Betting Picks

Tommy Fury – brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury – opens as a significant favourite against Anthony Taylor in the six-round exhibition fight at 180 pounds

Fury has been vocal against Jake Paul – wanting to fight him – but settling for Anthony Taylor instead. Fury – while not the talent his brother is – is still a success in the ring. He enters the fight with a 6-0 record, with four wins coming by knockout.

Tommy Fury odds

Like many fighters in these exhibition bouts, Anthony Taylor comes from an MMA background, fighting for much of his career in Bellator. He does have a bit more boxing background than many of the other MMA fighters we see step into the ring. However, the difference in size in this fight is much too extreme to overlook.

Fury fights at 25 lbs heavier than Anthony. Anthony will put on the extra weight before the fight – but at his size, only 5’ 7”, hitting 180 pounds may cost him speed (what should be his most significant advantage in the fight). Fury also stands six inches taller with a reach that is nearly ten inches longer (76 inches vs. 66.5 inches) than Taylor. There are no logical reasons to bet against Fury.

There are other fights announced on the undercard, but the Tommy Fury vs. Anthony Taylor fight is the bout with the closest lines – which is quite surprising. We suggest we should stay away from the other fights or place three small wagers (10% of a unit) on Lucas Brian Ariel Bastida (10.00), Mercado Yamileth (9.00), and Joe Cusumano (12.00).
