CFL Friday Night Football Week 13

Week 13 of the Canadian Football League regular season starts on Friday night at 7:00 PM EST, with two games on Saturday and an early afternoon game on Sunday to wrap up the weekend. Week 13 features some games, which can have a significant impact on the playoff picture. Preview the games of week 13 and the best wagers to make on this weekend’s batch of games.

Sports Interaction Football Games

Starting on Friday night, the Canadian Football League schedules four games for week 13. The first game of week 13 is starting on Friday night at 7:00 PM EST sees the hottest team in the East, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, host Saskatchewan. Hamilton is riding a two game winning streak, and after starting 0-8, a win on Friday would put them right back into the playoff hunt. Saskatchewan is coming off a 20-point on the road but should play better against Hamilton.

Two games highlight Saturday, with the first being between the Edmonton Eskimos and Toronto Argonauts in Toronto. Toronto had last weekend off, while Edmonton is coming off back-to-back games against the Calgary Stampeders. Toronto may have the advantage, even with the opening line being right at even and just shifting to favourite Edmonton.

The big game of week 13 is a Western showdown with the BC Lions heading to Calgary to duke it out against the Stampeders. Expect fireworks in this game, as these two teams combined to score 77 points last weekend. The last game of the weekend is on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM EST. The Ottawa Redblacks travel to Montreal to play the Alouettes in a must win game for both teams. Each team lost last week, and now each team in the East starts the week three games under .500. A win by Montreal would put them just a half game between Ottawa.

The odds for week 13 of the CFL were slow to come by. With so many teams dealing with injuries to their starting quarterbacks, the sportsbooks were waiting for news to break before setting the lines. After a wait, the lines started to populate, and a few good options were available. One game this week is a straight-up pick with the home team getting the favour. The other options are an over on the best game of the weekend and a road favourite to win and cover.

Canadian Football League Picks Week 13

The Toronto Argonauts come into Saturday afternoon’s game with a 0-5 record against the West Division, but after a bye week, they may be able to snap their woeful streak. The Edmonton Eskimos are desperate coming into week 13. The team has now lost four straight and now sit just 1.5 games out of the last place in the West. Edmonton is 3-2 on the road, while Toronto sports an identical record at home. With neither quarterback 100% healthy this season, this game is a true pick’em and coming off two straight games against the Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton is worn down and vulnerable. Take the Argonauts to win this week.

Two of the best offences in the CFL face off on Saturday night, as the Calgary Stampeders host the BC Lions in a game scheduled to start 7:00 PM EST. The two mighty offences combined to average over 61 points a game this season. The Lions are coming off a 41-point performance, the third time this season the Lions have topped 40 points on offence. The Stampeders average 38.3 points at home this season. The Lions recently lost their starting quarterback, Travis Lulay for the season, but have a great backup in Jonathan Jennings who led them to 41 points and victory last weekend. Expect some fireworks on Saturday and bet the over on this game.

Just two weeks ago, Ottawa Redblacks went into Montreal and laid a lick on the Alouettes, beating them 32-4. The Montreal Alouettes come in week 13 on a four game skid.  Last season Montreal lost four consecutive games but ended the streak at home beating Toronto 38-11. However, this Montreal is decidedly worse than the team they fielded last season. The Alouettes offence seems to be the cause of their problems. Through 11 games this season, the team has only topped 20 points three times, and during their current four game losing streak, the team twice has failed to score seven points or more. Take Ottawa to win on the road.

With about two-thirds of the CFL regular season over, excluding for the Saskatchewan Roughriders who are the only team to play just ten games, the home stretch of the season is here. This is a very good time to check on the best performers of the season thus far and make some updated predictions on the favourite to win the MOP award.

The biggest surprise in the MOP race has to be that Bo Levi Mitchell, the quarterback for the Calgary Stampeders, is not the favourite to repeat as the champion in 2017. Mitchell does not lead the CFL in any major passing categories, ranking fifth in passing yards and passing touchdowns and seventh in quarterback efficiency. The Stampeders are such a talented team that Bo Levi Mitchell having a relatively slow season has not hampered the team in any way.

The favourite a few weeks ago Mike Reilly, quarterback of the Edmonton Eskimos, is also a long shot now for the award. Reilly started the year leading the Eskimos to a 7-0 record, but since the team has dropped four straight, with Reilly throwing just five touchdowns to six interceptions in during the four game losing streak.

Now, after 12 weeks of games, the favourite for the MOP is Matt Nichols, quarterback of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Nichols has led the Bombers to the best offence in the league, while he ranks second in passing touchdowns and has completed over 70% of his passes. At 8-3, Winnipeg enters week 13 with the second-best record in the league. With the weekend off, Nichols can get ready for the final part of the season.
