Max Fried Looks for Redemptions as Underdog Braves Aim for First World Series Since 1995

With Charlies Morton out, Max Fried is the best remaining starter for the Atlanta Braves. The question now is whether he can rebound from a porous start in Game Two. Fried worst two-game stretch was in April this year – allowing seven and five runs on April 7 and 13. Besides that, he has rebounded well – making his second appearance interesting and with the best MLB odds from online sportsbooks – our pick.

Another interesting tangle in this game is the Astros starting Luis Garcia. Garcia has not been at his best during the postseason. Before his appearance against the Braves, he pitched three games against the Red Sox and White Sox and surrendered ten runs in 8.1 innings. It is a risky play by a team down in the series.

braves odds win

The Braves – who we bet would win the World Series in March – have the talent in their order. Freddie Freeman is one of the best hitters in baseball – while Eddie Rosario is batting .354 for the postseason. Between those two, we can see the Braves pushing the Astros on the road.

The Braves pulled a great road win in Game 1. They lost a pitcher in that win – but the guts Charlie Morton showed (who should be the starter today) – is one of the intangibles we love going into Game 6. We are riding with our preseason World Series pick to win the game and win the World Series.

Is 8.5 Runs High for an Elimination Game?

Five games into the 2021 World Series – we have witnessed over 8.5 5uns twice. In Houston, the scores have totalled eight and nine runs. Looking at the history of World Series Winners – we have a lot of unders – assuming the best MLB betting lines and odds are set at 8.5.

If the pitching is at its best – and very conservative – we should see a low-scoring game between the two contenders. Fried – despite his bad Game 2 – has been one of the best pitchers for the Braves. Garcia likely has a short leash – and is probably taken out if he allows a few hits (even if they do not score).

The Astros have some guys in their bullpen (or should I call it the Arm Barn). But it is all hands on deck after a day off and it is an elimination game – so expect the best from both pitching staffs and a low-scoring Game 6.

If you want to hedge, the best bet is to take Houston to be up and win. We have witnessed the Astros win by one to four runs in their games – and if they are to win again, they probably take care of business early and pile on to keep the lead.

MLB world series 6 odds

The Astros also enter this game with the most five-run wins in the postseason since the 2015 Kansas City Royals. This adds another element to why we think this hedge bet is the best option to take if you are going against the Braves and under.
