CFL Week 10 Betting Predictions

CFL betting continues in Week 10 with some juicy matchups and an over/under line we have as our bet of the weekend.

It is a busy weekend in Canada – with Thanksgiving and plenty of sports to watch. To help keep your focus on organizing and cooking dinner, we cooked up the best bets to make this weekend in our CFL Week 10 betting predictions.

Edmonton Elks vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Winnipeg plays Edmonton for a second time this season – looking to add another win and inch closer to clinching the best record in the CFL this season. CFL betting lines have Winnipeg as the biggest favourite of Week 10.

Winnipeg won the first meeting this season – 37-22 in Edmonton. Winnipeg quarterback Zach Collaros was as efficient as he has been this season in the win – going 19-24 for 252 yards and a TD. The Winnipeg defence – which is the best in the CFL this season – picked off Elks’ QB Taylor Cornelius three times in the victory.

The Elks are struggling right now. They lost to Ottawa last week – even though they were 8.0-point favourites against the lowly Redblacks. The loss gives Edmonton three straight games where they allowed at least 32 points. However, there is some good news for Edmonton this week. Trevor Harris is taking first-team reps at practice.

CFL week 10 picks

Harris is averaging nearly 300 yards passing per game this season (in five starts). The Elks’ two wins this season are with Harris under centre. However, Harris is prone to turnovers this season. Harris has five picks this season (on 170 passes) compared to only six on 478 passes in 2019.

Turning the ball over against Winnipeg spells disaster. Winnipeg is great at taking advantage of short fields and putting points on the board. It is why they are second in the CFL in points but are average or below average in offensive yardage categories. No reason to bet against the Blue Bombers on Friday night.

Calgary Stampeders vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders

Calgary and Saskatchewan met for the second of three straight games against each other this weekend. Calgary won the first game as a home underdog – which we did not expect in our Week 9 CFL betting preview.

Saskatchewan hosts this week, and we expect they will play better. The Roughriders are 4-1 at home this year (compared to 1-2 on the road). They have put up at least 30 points in three of the four wins – including their most recent win (30-16 against the Toronto Argonauts).

While Calgary got a much-needed win against Saskatchewan last week, they still have some glaring holes on their team. Calgary ranks seventh in passing yards and rushing yards allowed per game. They struggled to stop William Powell in their win last win – who averaged 6.0 yards per rush and scored a touchdown.

They did manage to generate pressure over the first three quarters. However, by the fourth, the Roughriders were able to move the ball more effectively – and if not for a late interception by Cody Fajardo, Saskatchewan may have completed the comeback. Look for Saskatchewan to rebound and win the rematch on Saturday.

Ottawa Redblacks vs. Montreal Alouettes

Ottawa and Montreal meet in a rematch of the highest-scoring game of the season – a 51-29 win by Montreal at the start of September. It marks four straight games between Ottawa and Montreal the over has hit.

Montreal is the top offence in the CFL this season. They average 420.9 yards per game and 25.86 points per game. Ottawa ranks last in the CFL in defence. They allow the most yards (398.1) and points per game (29.00). Ottawa games have hit the over in three of their four last games. Montreal is not that much better on the defensive side of the ball – giving up the seventh-most points per game in the CFL (24.86).

Ottawa’s offence is the only reason to consider betting on the under. They have five games this season where they have scored 16 points or less. However, they just plugged in rookie quarterback Caleb Evans who tossed three TDs in his first start. It could be what they need to revitalize the offence – especially when you consider their previous QB Dominique Davis went 14 for 50 in his final start before heading to the bench. Bet of the week: Over 48.5 points.

Toronto Argonauts vs. Hamilton Tiger-Cats

The final game of Week 10 is the biggest one – with the top teams in the East Division looking to pick up some points and gain more separation in the standings. The two clubs split their first two meetings of the season – with the rubber match potentially the tiebreaker that will decide the East Division winner.

CFL Week 10

Hamilton is a difficult team to gauge this season. They cycled through three quarterbacks – most recently returning to preseason starter Jeremiah Masoli. Masoli played the role of a game manager in his most recent start. While it is better than the Masoli that had four picks on 66 passes to start the season, it was not enough to win the game.

The Argonauts recently got back their starting quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thomson. Thompson tossed two TDs in Toronto’s win against the Als. He now has 88 passes this season without tossing a pick.

This game comes down to which quarterback you trust more and we are going with the Argos’ signal-caller and the +5.0. The game should be low-scoring and the Argos could be a little slow out the gate – having played against Ottawa on Wednesday night (which is why we like the points and not the Argos moneyline).
