NHL Western Conference Betting Lines

Home to the historic Chicago Blackhawks, a trio of strong California franchises and four Canadian clubs, the Western Conference is filled with a great mix of teams with some of the NHL’s strongest franchises. With two less teams than the Eastern Conference, Western teams have some of the NHL’s best rivalries and tightest playoff races. Western Conference betting lines reflect this with inter-conference games being all the more important. Keep an eye on the money lines as even small changes can mean a big swing in the line.

With the recent shuffling of the NHL Conferences, the West lost one of its most prized franchises – the Detroit Red Wings. Even with the loss, the West continues to dominate the NHL, winning a majority share of the Stanley Cups since the turn of the decade. With the emergence of strong hockey in California and Chicago’s new dynasty, the West has amassed 7 of the 10 Stanley Cups since the NHL lockout in 2005.

The West is filled with a mix of talented forwards, goalies and defenceman, but you would be hard pressed to find a more exciting player than Edmonton Oiler’s forward Connor McDavid. McDavid – drafted first overall in 2015 – has been dubbed the next Wayne Gretzky and so far he has lived up to the billing. With other great players such as Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews – the two key pieces of Chicago’s recent resurgence – Corey Perry of the Anaheim Ducks and goaltender Jonathan Quick of the Los Angeles Kings, the Western Conference is worth staying up late to watch.

Since each division in the West is short one team, divisional and conference matchups are a little more frequent and intense. Smart bettors will pay attention to the standings, lookup recent matchup history and check to see who will be the starting goaltender. Once you master these details, you will be the best at betting on the West!
