With two of the NHL’s biggest and most historic rivalries, the Atlantic Division is steeped in rich history and great hockey. Arguably hockey’s best and most hated rivalries, the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens have produced many memorable moments and consistency rank amongst the top rivalries in all of sports. With the return of the Detroit Red Wings to the East, the hockey world is lucky enough now to see the them do battle with their historic rival – the Toronto Maple Leafs – four times a season.

The division features a triplet of teams searching for their first ever Stanley Cup titles. The Ottawa Senators, Florida Panthers and Buffalo Sabres have yet to hoist Lord Stanley over their heads, but they have all had ranging levels of success over their existences.

Georgie Howe and his 25 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings. Daryl Sittler scoring 10 points against the Boston Bruins as a member of the Toronto Maples Leafs. Maurice Richard becoming the first player to score 50 goals in a season – while leading the Canadiens to multiple Stanley Cup. Tradition, culture, fandom and competition make the Atlantic division one of North America’s most interesting and entertaining divisions to follow.

Betting on divisional action is both rewarding and challenging as the teams play each other more often. Avoid being swayed by the large number of fans hollering that this is the Maple Leafs year or how a Montreal fan will never cheer for Boston – no matter the circumstances – and stay focused. Take into consideration recent player scoring streaks, home ice advantage and momentum when trying to pick the best money lines.
