NFL Championship Sunday plays out two weeks prior to the Super Bowl each year in January. The American Football Conference winners are rewarded with the Lamar Hunt Trophy and, much more importantly, a trip to the NFL title game. Traditionally the cream of the AFC crop, Pittsburgh (15), New England (12) and Denver (10) have played in a combined 37 AFC Championship games and they have each posted eight victories up to and including Denver’s NFL 2015 AFC title win.

Sporting a 4-7 record, the Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders eleven AFC Championship battles leads the rest of AFC squads that have played in 55 championship games. Those 15 teams are a combined 22-33 during their bids to advance to the Super Bowl. With a 2-0 record, the Cincinnati Bengals are the only team that has not lost during an AFC title game. Established in 2002, the Houston Texans are the lone remaining squad in the AFC without a Conference Championship appearance.
